Cookies are not dangerous, and no, they aren't a virus. Shirley's cookies are used to store your order list, so if you don't complete your order, and come back to it later, you won't have to re-enter your order. These cookies also have all of your personal details created by you for order information, this is so you don't have to keep typing in your name and address every time you place an order. In regards to the Fan Club, the cookies store your user details, and if you are logged in, will give you 10% a discount on your order.

I have accidentally blocked Shirley's cookies, how do I un-block them?
Step 1 - Open up your browser (Internet Explorer).
Step 2 - Navigate along the drop down menus at the top of the browsers window. Left click on Tools then Internet Options.
Step 3 - Click on the Privacy Tab at the top of the new dialogue box, then click on the Edit button.
Step 4 - In the Address of Web site blank box, type http://www.shirleybarbers.com
Step 5 - Click the Allow button then the OK button, then click the OK button of the last dialogue box.

Why do we have to convert our Total AU Dollars to US Dollars?
If you live in Australia, and you would like to do a direct deposit, or Cheque you don't have to. If you live internationally then you will have to convert the AU Dollar figure to US Dollars. At present Pay Pal will only accept US dollars, and due to the incredibly high charges for Merchant fees, we have to use this international credit card company for payments!

I still haven't received my order, when I processed my direct deposit I used the Book ISBN for the Direct Deposit ID!
You must use the Order/Tracking Number or your name as an ID for your direct deposit, this will will allow us to track who has made a deposit. The ISBN is the type of book, many people order the same book which has the same number, this does not make your order point to you!!

If we haven't seen the direct deposit appear as credit to the account, we cannot process the order.

Why hasn't my order been sent yet??
Unfortunately we may have one of your ordered items on back order, it takes approximately 2 days to get these in. Sometimes it takes our banks 2 days to update their systems (probably due to them making interest on the funds that they receive!) before we see the credit balance.

This Pay Pal seems to be such a hard way of paying for this order!
Pay Pal, we have found, is the easiest way of paying securely via the internet at present! It only takes 5 minutes to go through the usual crap of entering all of your details! This only has to be done once, and when you have done this, you can purchase online from millions of company's just using your e-mail address and password. www.ebay.com or www.ebay.com.au is a classic example!

Why hasn't my cheque cleared??
If you live in Australia, your cheque will have to be cleared! This will take 5 days due to the banks wanting to generate interest on your funds! If you are an International customer, you must have a International Cheque drawn up in Australian dollars! Any other cheque will be destroyed on receipt, due to the banks wanting to send the cheque back to the originating bank for confirmation which requires a fee, and the time for transit, then the conversion fee to Australian dollars which all so requires a fee ! (Maybe I should get the banks to sell Shirley's products!!)

Yes, we will still process these cheque's, as long as they have been signed & dated in the (When Countersigned Below with this Signature) and signed in the (Countersign Here in Presence of Person Cashing) fields.

What does AUD mean?

What is the conversion button for?
If you can't see the imbedded XE.com currency converter, and you need to convert the AUD figure to USD, click on the Conversion button, if you have popup's enabled you will see a small box from www.XE .com. This new page will allow you to do instant conversions from any currency to any currency.

When I change the quantity of the first item in my order, the order gets all stuffed up?
Yes there is a glitch there, just click on the empty cart, and try again, that glitch only happens on the first item ordered line. Sorry I will endeavor to get that glitch sorted out!

Why is there a separate Shipping cost & Packaging cost?
I have separated these two costs, as with International orders, the shipping cost can become quite expensive, so if you would like to double check the shipping costs you can use the Australia Post's site and see that the costing is correct.

When I put the game CD in the drive, nothing happens?
The Fairies game will only auto run if this feature is enabled in your windows environment. To run the game, double click on the icon my computer, then double click on the CD-Rom, this procedure will open the CD up so you can see the contents of the CD. Double click on the Autorun icon. This action will start the game!

Why does the game require me to install all that data from the CD?
Due to the large amount of graphics in the game, the best performance is achieved by reading directly from your Hard Disk, as apposed to reading from CD's. This only has to be done once!

When I installed the game, I got an explorer error when the program group icons were being created, the game then exited?
This can happen on the rarest occasions, (only on the first install too!), when the Spellbound icon wasn't found on the Spellbound CD fast enough! Just double click on the Spellbound icon, either on your desktop, if you chose that option, or from your start menu!

After I installed the game, I took out the CD, when I tried to run the game I was told that the CD had to be in the CD drive to play?
This is copy protection that I have inserted throughout the game, you must have the CD in the drive to play. You will need the CD in the drive to watch the tuition movies, as these are read from the CD! And let's face it, the game is only priced at $29.95 so give Shirley a fair go for her time and effort!!

The game just won't install?
We haven't come across this problem yet. If this does happen to you, navigate to the Spellbound CD, open it up, then double click on the Files directory, you will see a an icon called InstallRun, double click on this icon, and the game will run from the CD!

When the game runs, the monitor flicks back and forth twice, is this normal?
When the game runs, it check's to see what resolution you are running on your screen, if you are running a higher resolution that 800 x 600 pixels your screen should change resolution to 800 x 600. Your screen will change back to your old resolution when you exit the game.

Why is the game small in the center of the screen?
When the game runs it should have changed the resolution to 800 x 600 - 32bit colour, if it didn't, you can still play the game, or you can manually change the resolution yourself.

How do I manually change the resolution of my screen?
Close of everything so you can see your background on the desktop, or click on the (show desktop) icon on your start bar. Right click on the background, you will see a menu come up, choose the properties on this menu. You have done all the right things, if a new dialogue box opens up that says (Display Properties) at the top! Click on the tab that says (Settings). You will now see a screen resolution slider, drag this to the right or left, depending on what resolution you are after. Click on the Colour Quality drop down box, and choose the highest colour that your graphics card will handle. Finally click on the Apply button, your monitor will now flick as it changes resolution, you may have to adjust the horizontal and vertical controls of your monitor, so the picture fills up the screen correctly. Now close of the (Display Properties) dialogue box, and there you have it!

What is the difference between Spellbound & Fairies, Create Paint & Play?
Fairies, Create Paint & Play is the cut down version of Spellbound. The Fairies CPP title has Jigsaw Puzzles, Create A Card and Colour-In. The Spellbound title has Jigsaw Puzzles, Create A Card, Colour-In, Dress Ups, Find The Object, Join The Dots, The Story & 40 min's of Tuition.

I have installed the game and it works fine, but the Shirley's Tuition movies just won't play?
You must have the Spellbound CD in the CD-Rom to watch the movies.
You may need to update your Quick time player. To do this, navigate to the Spellbound CD-Rom directory, by using the My Computer icon. Try running the QuickTimeInstaller.exe in the Spellbound\Quicktime\PC_Quicktime directory on the CD-Rom, or click here to install from the site.

Why do the sound effects sound choppy?
This is a problem with Macromedia Director, which can be fixed by reducing the sound hardware acceleration. This can be done by opening your control panel, double left clicking on (Sounds And Audio Devices), then clicking on the speaker settings advanced button, then the performance tab. You will now see a Hardware Acceleration drag bar, just drag it closer to the None side. If you still have problems, drag it a little further.

Macintosh Users - Card Icon Scale problem.
I have discovered that Macintosh user's can't emulate the right button mouse that windows users are used to. This would stop you from increasing or decreasing the size of the icon that you drag on your card! so here is an update to the Cards.dxr for you to download, it is 26.6Meg so please be patient. Copy the contents of Spellbound or Fairies Create Paint & Play to your Hard Drive, then expand the Cards.zip file with winzip, Save the expanded file Cards.dxr to the files directory within the game directory, when it prompts to replace click yes. Now when you play the game, and you are in the Cards section, click and drag your icon on your card, then hold down the control key, and click & drag, the icon will now change it's size. Sorry for the inconvenience!

Why can't I log into the web site?
You must have paid for your membership, before your given access to the club. This is a must, club members get a 10% discount on purchases when they are logged in, and a present for Christmas and Birthday if they have paid for these features.
If you were able to log in without paying you would have access to these perk for nothing!

Why haven't I received my birthday present?
Heaven forbid that this ever happens! Did you correctly enter your birthrate, you can check this by logging into the Fairy Fan Club then going to the section (Change Details), while you are there, make sure that your postal address is correct! Please keep this section updated.
If both of these parameters are correct, send an email to me I'm terribly sorry if this has happened, I will rectify the problem as soon as I can.

Why did I receive a present that I already own?
I'm sorry but you must keep your details updated, you can check and modify this by logging into the Fairy Fan Club, then going to the section (Change Details), Scroll down and click on the new items that you have purchased, then click on Change button! Please keep this section updated.
I'm terribly sorry if this has happened, I try to do the best that I can, with the information that I have on hand.

Who is this Konrad Turner?
When Shirley was first married, she was married to Peter Donald Turner, she had two children, Jackie Turner ( Now Jackie Price ), who was born in England, then later Konrad Turner, who was born in Melbourne Australia, her name was then Shirley Turner, you may have even purchased some of her earlier paintings & rock pets! Peter Donald passed away and in the years to follow, Shirley re-married to Keith Barber, thus the Shirley Barber logo was born.

Is this really Shirley Barbers Web Site?
This is the one and only Shirley Barber's web site, I ( Konrad Turner ) Shirley's son, have put this web site online for my mother, she provides me with the artwork that is required, and she helps run the Fairy Fan Club, she judges the competitions and helps me to respond to the e-mails. She has no time to administer this web site due to the work required for her new books etc.

Why when I look at a product, are the drop down boxes empty?
This occurs when you are still running the old costing database, just click on the refresh button a few times, this will hopefully send you the new costing's. This web site is constantly changing all the time, if something doesn't look right, just click on the refresh a few times.

Why does the home page season's not correspond with our seasons?
The season's change and follow the season's that change here in Australia. Each country has their seasons at different times!

When I download these files from the download section, they have the extension .zip, what does this mean?
The extension .zip means that the downloaded file is zipped or compressed, so that it takes less time to download. To expand these files you need to have a program installed called Winzip or WinRAR installed, these programs will allow you to expand the file back to its original size & form!

We are trying to get all of her products here by March 2004, for purchase, that's if the company's play the game!

Why does it take so long for the Artwork Reproductions?
We only hi-res scan the artwork that is requested, if it is not already scanned. This is quite expensive initially approx AUD$ 150.00 per scan, then if the artwork needs to be autographed, I will send it express post to my mother to be signed, she will then send it back, and we will post it to you!

Why can't I get rid of the gold information panel on the Home page?
Just left click on the red X on the Top Right hand corner of the panel, this will close it, so that you can see the art behind!
If this procedure doesn't close it, then your browser is not supported by this function! It may be time to either update your browser, or use a browser that is more common, i.e. Internet Explorer.

Can I use your Artwork for Tubes, web sets, callings cards, Siggys?
It is illegal to manipulate or reproduce any of my artwork in any manner due to copyright and licensing agreements with the publishers. This was allowed in the past, and adventurous individuals took advantage of this, removed copyright logo's and watermarks, then proceeded to print the images onto products and sell them. So to fix the problem, we had to stamp out all artwork manipulation, with full international copyright agreements. I'm sorry, it's unfortunate that a few ruin it for the many! Shirley Barber.

Why do I get a Quick time Bar when I try to play this game?
Apple Quick time is a very temperamental utility, when installed it thinks, that when it finds a sound on a web page, it must play it. To rectify this problem, so you can play this game, de-install Quick time by going to Start - Control Panel - Add or Remove Programs then remove Quick time. When you have finished the game and you want to re-install Quick time click here This will re-install Apple Quick time
