IVY LODGE CARPET
IN DANGEROUS STATE |
Martha
B. Rabbit, (well known in the forest community for her cooking
talents), has presented a large iced fruit cake to the elderly
residents of Ivy Lodge Retirement Home to be used as first prize
in a raffle to raise funds. "We badly need new carpet in the dining
room," Ivy Lodge manageress, MissTheodora Thrush, told your reporter
today. "It is so frayed in places our elderly residents catch
their toes in it. I ask all Forest dwellers to buy
a ticket in the Cake Raffle so that we can purchase new carpet."
Raffle tickets can be bought at Mrs Emily Prickles'
Corner Shop, Mr Fergus Frog's tricycle store, Mr. Hare's Hardware
and the Post Office. |

DON'T MISS MOUSE ART |
An exhibition of paintings by Octarius Owl will be
on display at the Apple Tree Gallery from the 6th to the 20th
of this month. There are six mouse portraits and ten
paintings entitled "Still life with Mouse," each being a variation
on a common theme. "I attempt to capture the essential
'mouse' ," explains Octavius Owl," The delicate nuances of fluff
and whisker; I try to portray the 'eternal mouse' in my portraits,
not just the external features, but the inward psyche."
This important exhibition should not be missed by
anyone interested in modern mouse art! |

THE
HIT & RUN RABBIT |
The
Hit and run rabbit struck again yesterday. This time
the three wicked rats were run into by the masked mad rabbit on
his yellow tricycle. |
|
As on a previous occasion he did not stop after sending
the three rats flying.
P.C Tom said, "with a scarf covering most of
his face, it's making identification difficult." "It's
criminal, that's what it is," grumbled Spotto, a rat unknown to
the law for his own activities "He should be arrested and sentenced
to about a hundred years in the Oak tree Lockup," He went on.
"He's a danger to the community."
P.C Tom said he was hopeful of an early arrest.

BIRTHDAY
CELEBRATION AT GUEST HOUSE |
A surprise party was held in Mr
Gnome's Guest House on Monday for fairy Melinda on the occasion
of her birthday. The well known Martha B. Rabbit was
in charge of the party food which was laid out on a dosen toadstools
tables, and ranged from nut canape's, chestnut rissoles with raspberry
sauce to jellies, fruit creams and a superbly decorated birthday
cake. Twenty beautiful fairies attended the party,
their shimmering dresses in rainbow shades of colour, and music
for their dancing was provided by the popular group "Green Grasshoppers."

MYSTERIOUS LOSSES FROM MR. GNOMES GUESTHOUSE |
A Number of personal items have disappeared from Mr. Gnomes Guesthouse
during the past few weeks. Fairies have reported losing
their jewelry, evening bags etc. when they felt certain
they had left them in their bedrooms. "Fairies do tend
to be a little forgetful," Mr Gnome told your reporter today. "At
first I thought the lost jewels were just misplaced but I have become
very worried over the frequency of the losses and have informed
P.C Tom.
I am also concerned about three gardeners who I employed to tidy
round the Guest House tree roots (though it is winter, the weeds
seemed to be growing quickly) - well, as I say, these three very
good workers seem also to have disappeared. I do hope
they haven't come to any harm." Asked to describe the
missing persons, Mr Gnome said they all had poor eye sight and wore
dark glasses and because of the cold, had thick wooly hats pulled
well down over their ears. P.C Tom said he had several
good leads which he hoped would lead to an early arrest of whoever
might have stolen the fairy items and also to finding the three
missing gardeners. |
